Moving a file from one location to another is the same no matter where it is and where you want it move it to, as long as they are in the same drive. If you follow this procedure to move a file from your desktop (C: Drive) to a flash drive, it will create a copy instead of moving the file.
Open your file explorer.
Find the current location of the file.
*In this example we will use Documents and move to Desktop.
Left click and hold the file name and drag it to the new location (Desktop).
Notice the note under the file icon that it is moving the file. The gray highlighted folder is the original the blue is the destination.
Release and it will be moved.
